Modern grafting uses several proven sources: your own bone (autograft), processed donor bone (allograft), animal-derived mineral scaffold (xenograft), or synthetic bone substitutes. Far less than its reputation. It depends on the size of the rebuild. Small grafts are often placed simultaneously with the implant — no added wait at all. Larger ridge or sinus rebuilds typically integrate for several months before the implant goes in, because rushing a foundation is how implants fail.
