San Jose office provides range of sedation dentistry options to patients

At the Center for Implant Dentistry, Drs. Sambhav Jain, Arpana Gupta, and Shivani Gupta provide patients in the San Jose area with a wide range of treatments from simple dental services to extensive restorative procedures. However, many patients, both young and old, avoid visiting the dentist because of their dental anxieties. These fears can keep patients from getting the care and attention they need to sustain a beautiful, healthy smile for life. Thankfully, the team at the Center for Implant Dentistry offers sedation dentistry.

Sedation dentistry is a way of relaxing patients who have dental anxiety that may keep them from visiting the practice of the Center for Implant Dentistry. Drs. Sambhav Jain, Arpana Gupta, and Shivani Gupta are dedicated to providing a range of treatment options including oral conscious sedation and IV sedation.

Oral conscious sedation is a medication that is prescribed by our dental team to be administered approximately one hour before the dental appointment is to start. Patients must arrange transportation to and from the dental office when using this medication. Patients are awake and coherent throughout their appointment but relaxed and calm. This helps our dental team perform the necessary treatments. Afterwards, patients are transported back home to rest and will awaken with all their dental work complete!

Another option for severely anxious patients is IV sedation. This is administered through the blood and it can put many of our patients into a deep sleep. Dental work is performed and patients will spend some time in a recovery room until the medication works its way out of the bloodstream. Most patients will still feel groggy and will need a ride home.

Both oral conscious sedation and IV sedation are readily available at the Center for Implant Dentistry and can be used for adults who have fears of the dental chair. Contact our team of professionals today to learn more about sedation dentistry and all we have to offer in our state-of-the-art practice. We encourage patients to book consultation visits with our team and educate themselves on the various ways of addressing dental fears.
