IV/Oral Sedation at Center for Implant Dentistry, Fremont

I have been doing my research and have gone to many dentists but nobody took as much time as Dr. Jain in explaining to me the various treatment options for my missing teeth. His pricing is also good so I opted for the treatment on first visit. Doctor and other staff checked my vital signs and did the surgery under sedation and put four screws (implants) in my lower jaw bone. Surgery was not too bad. Staff was nice they gave me a blanket, yogurt and juice. Next visit they gave me artificial teeth and nobody in my office knows that they are not real teeth. Now I can smile fully without hiding it. Looking forward to getting new permanent teeth in six months. Thanks, Dr. Jain and his Staff.

Feelings of anxiety related to dental care are perfectly understandable. At Center for Implant Dentistry in Fremont, we believe that our patients from the Bay Area and beyond deserve a positive, stress-free experience. We understand that undergoing an oral surgery procedure can be worrisome, and we offer sedation as a way to facilitate peace of mind, as well as physical comfort.
Sedation for dental procedures has become increasingly popular, and we are happy to offer this type of service to our patients. The primary benefit of sedation is that the medication administered, either orally or intravenously (IV) has a calming effect on the central nervous system. As such, sedation can greatly improve your experience as you complete your oral surgery with one of our experienced dentists.

Dentist with a patientOral sedation

Oral sedation is prescribed in pill form and taken prior to a dental visit.

  • The benefit of oral sedation is that relaxation begins well before you arrive at our office and remains throughout your procedure.
  • Oral sedation is ideal for mildly to moderately anxious patients. This sedative does not cause sleep, but removes fear and stress-related tension.
  • Depending on the level of relaxation felt by the patient, it is possible that one will doze off lightly.

IV sedation

Intravenous sedation has the greatest effect. Even severely anxious patients are able to reach a state of relaxation with IV sedation. Center for Implant Dentistry is trained, experienced, and licensed to provide this level of sedation, enabling our patients to receive care comfortably and without fear. As suggested by its name, intravenous sedation is administered directly into the bloodstream. One benefit of IV sedation is the quick action the medication has due to the delivery method. Patients quickly relax and may even fall into a light sleep until the end of their procedure.

Benefits of sedation dentistry

  • Time seems to pass very quickly under the effects of sedation.
  • Events that take place under the effects of sedation are typically not remembered, so patients tend to have no recollection of their procedure.
Sedation services are ideal for procedures such as tooth extraction and dental implant placement. With sedation, our patients can sit back and relax as we attend to their dental needs.
